Advanced Social Media at Erbil Polytechnic University

This seminar, which is under the Visiting American Professional program (VAP), will examine advanced social media and digital tools for journalists through lecture and discussion about how to strengthen reporting in one’s community. Seminars will discuss how to react in real time to news you know is fake, how to effectively spot bad-faith reporting on social media, how to avoid being fooled by a story that is too good to be true, and how to identify and debunk frightening mis- or disinformation including basic verification procedures, and other ways to make sure the news we’re reporting is real and not strategic misinformation.
A Kurdish interpreter will be provided for the seminar
